On 9-11-17 a tree fell on my house during the hurricane in Newnan, Georgia. I filed a claim on my house and received a check on 10-2-17 for just over $10,000 for repairs in which it had my name, my wife's name, and Ocwen's name on it.

I called Ocwen to see what I needed to do. I was told just to mail the check out to them, they would sign it, and send it back. To make things move a little faster I mailed the check out overnight, which cost me almost $25 but I waited a week and called them back on 10-9-17. Come to find out I needed to mail the documents that came with the check with the check and so now I'm pissed because the tree has been removed, the roof is still with *** in it with a tarp over it, the guy to repair the roof will be here by Wednesday, and I have no freaking way of paying either of them.

I figured if I got a check from my insurance company that Ocwen would have known that someone came out to look at my house and approved the work. This is just some old BS!!!

Reason of review: Problems with payment.

Same thing with us and were skeptical in send it or not we keeped all this copies of everything we send. Maybe a month later we got our check back! We couldn't hire anybody to just come in and repair since we didn't know when the check was coming in.

So is Ocwen stealing money from insurance company because thatโ€™s what it sounds like to me. Once they get the check it appears they make it hard for homeowners to get money in order to fix problem. Are they doing this in hope that homeowners wonโ€™t respond and hey get to keep money?

I've had the same problem in January 2018 only it was the boiler for heat and hot water after a real cold snap my boiler broke and flooded the finished basement when I got the insurance claim check sent it to Ocwen after a week called them they said the check would be here in 5 days and instead sent a letter stating we needed a contractor etc when we could fix it ourselves and kept the check. The mortgage was currant and needless to say we are going on March 1st still with no heat and hot water and they won't release any money to get the boiler.

So has anyone looked into getting a lawyer for Ocwen? I think I better have a consultation with a lawyer first because my house has been damaged and I am being told to endorse check and send to them once I get it.

I'm frightened by what I'm reading here. I'm afraid my house won't get repaired.

We had the same issue when our house was flooded by the dish washer. The check came to us with our names and their names on it.

We had to have a lic. contractor fill out paper work and send into them. We had to make draws on the money just like when building the house. The check would come with our name and the contractors name on it.

The contractor got so pissed at use because it took forever to get his money. If we did not use a lic. contractor they would not release the money to us. The contractor had to fill out and send in copies of all his papers proving he was a contractor.

We told them we was doing the repairs our self. We built the house our selves.

But they would not let us do that at all. Makes no sense.
