Paid off mortgage on August 26, 2014. Did not receive the promised letter detailing the payoff until many phone calls.
It was finally emailed to us after we were told it had been mailed (US Postal). It never showed up in the regular mail, but finally came via email. The letter stated that it can take up to 6 months to receive the official release of lien. Started calling them in February.
They kept saying that they were waiting for more information. We paid off the mortgage several years early, were never late and had no liens on the property besides the mortgage. We kept checking with our county to find out if/when it had been recorded. Several times when calling Ocwen we were told it had been sent to the county for recording.
Outright lies. The document was finally recorded at our county on March 6. Today is April 3, and we still have not received the document from Ocwen. Just called them again.
They said the document was mailed to us on March 11. News to us, as it hasn't come. So, we asked that it be emailed to us. That, of course, requires the woman we spoke with to contact her supervisor who has to contact the satisfaction department (which doesn't have a phone number!!!) who will then send it to us.
This could take 24 - 48 hours.
I'm sure we'll be calling them again. How are they allowed to do business?!
